For this release, we chose our favorite ciders to celebrate the upcoming holidays. They also happen to be ciders made with varieties that have some exceptional cider-making qualities.
The 2022 Redfield Wickson Crab is a still cider made primarily with Wickson Crab – a variety that has quickly become one of my favorites to work with as a cider maker. This cider, bursting with stone fruit and notes of white grape, could easily stand in for a dry riesling and has quickly become one of my favorites. We only made 20 cases and it is going quickly, so I wanted to share it with you before it is gone.
Golden Russet Porter’s Perfection (what we lovingly call our Golden Perfection) has become our most popular varietal cider since we first started making it in 2017 and for good reason. This marriage of two of the most reliable varieties in our orchard has won numerous awards over the years we have been making it and the 2021 vintage is no exception – a beautifully complex cider with a tannic structure and the honeycomb notes we have come to expect from Golden Russet.
Rounding out this release is our 2021 Porter’s Pommeau. Made with cider we had distilled at Rootstock Cider & Spirits and a fresh juice component comprised of some of our favorite late-ripening apples, this Pommeau is beautifully balanced, complex, and smooth; the perfect way to end the day in front of the wood stove or share with friends after a decadent meal.
